Mentorship
Castro Fellowship ($10,000)
Once a quarter, Paul Castro personally mentors up to three screenwriting fellows in an effort to advance their best screenplay to agent / producer ready status. This is very much a hands on service that includes a strong commitment by both Mr. Castro and writer. While it is a paid service, prospective fellows are vetted by Paul and the Inspirational Screenwriting staff before acceptance to the program.
What is the process and what is included in the fellowship program...

Screenwriter submits fellowship application for consideration

Inspirational Screenwriting staff reviews all applications.

Consideration is given to education, writing experience, screenplay logline and summary, screenplay’s first 10-pages.

Writers are encouraged to labor over their first 10-pages with an eye for engagement, originality, active writing, compelling characters, and crisp dialogue. These are the same elements that a prospective agent, producer or studio reader is looking for in your first 10 pages!

Mr. Castro then reviews the submissions.

Selected writers will be notified and admitted to the fellowship program.

The fellowship spans 3 months and includes the following (all conducted personally by Mr. Castro)

First full read of the script for pleasure, from the perspective of a moviegoer.

Second full read of the script from the perspective of an agent and producer.

Full script write up to include a breakdown of:

Story originality and engagement
-
Screenplay structure
-
Character analysis
-
Dialogue assessment

Pacing
-
Plot points
-
Conclusion
-
Redlines and notes on all of the above

Discussion with Mr. Castro as he reviews all redlines and notes

Writer revises the script based on Mr. Castro’s input

Third full read with the intent to polish the writer’s edits and prepare the script for submission to agents and/or studios

Redlines and notes on third read

Phone or Skype discussion with Mr. Castro on third read notes.
